Passing the Test

Here is another story that shows David’s greatness, even as a boy.

Little David had seven brothers, and he was the youngest. They were all righteous, nice boys. But sometimes even good children do something wrong.

In David’s family, on each day, a different son had the responsibility of cleaning up the house. One day, all of David’s brothers ganged up and decided to play a mean trick on David. They told him that he had to clean up that day…and every day!

David didn’t understand why, because he had taken his turn and cleaned the house just the day before. But each of his brothers said to him, “It’s not my turn today. It’s your turn! And even if you did clean up yesterday, we don’t care. You’re going to clean up on our days, too. We’ll make you do so.” They were very rude to him and threatened him, saying, “We will decide what you have to do, and you’d better do it, or else! So just be quiet and do as we tell you. You must clean up every day, and you’d better do a good job! And don’t you dare tell Mommy and Daddy about this.”
